Dorchester County Home of IRONMAN Maryland, Dorchester County has more shoreline than any other county in the state. From the Chesapeake Bay to the Choptank and Nanticoke Rivers to dramatic marshland, water is central to life here. It's no wonder Dorchester draws outdoor enthusiasts, birders, photographers, hunters, cyclists, boaters, paddlers, and others from near and far.

  • As a Race Director, it is a gift and pleasure to plan and host 2 major triathlon events in a community that has welcomed these activities for many years. IRONMAN 70.3 Eagleman is in its 22nd year with IRONMAN Maryland in its 5th year. The success of these internationally known races is due to the welcoming attitude of the residents of Dorchester County and the amazing athlete friendly conditions over which to race, in a challenging but safe manner. We are the smallest community on the IRONMAN circuit but believe we have the biggest heart. Open expanses of beautiful countryside, full of wildlife and gorgeous scenery make this a destination location for athletes from around the world.

Blackwater National Widlife Refuge
Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge is home to an incredible amount of plant and animal diversity in its three major habitats – forest, marsh and shallow water. The refuge contains one-third of Maryland's tidal wetlands, which makes it an ecologically important area within the state. The refuge has been referred to as the "Everglades of the North," and has been called one of the "Last Great Places" by the Nature Conservancy.
